IMHO best book for a beginner:
PHP for the World Wide Web by Larry Ullman
A Visual Quickstart Guide
published by Peach Pit Press.
Their section on uploading files did not work, although neither did the file
upload sections of the 4 other books I bought on PHP. I finally to a website
that explained it correctly.
