Agreed! The two, certification and testing, should work hand-in-hand.

In other words for instance, you hold XYZ certification (recognized [after
appropriate marketing] as the creme-de-la-creme of certifications in the web
development profession which gets your foot in the door. I, during the
interview process, coordinate my testing and code review with what you have.
What am I now assured, assuming that you hold the certs and do well on my
tests?
