have you tried setting the images to display : block
in the stylesheet.  i tend to do something like this:

td img {
 	display : block;
	padding : 0px 0px 0px 0px;
	margin : 0px 0px 0px 0px;
	}

i don't think the padding / margin is really
necessary.  just to make sure...
