Ya, you need to set the outgoing SMTP server to your ISP's mailserver.
If for your 'regular' isp mail, you'd use mail.isp.net as the outgoing
server, you'll need to use that same outgoing server for your
members.evolt.org account.

In some cases, I've configured m.e.o to allow relaying for people that I
know, if it doesn't work with your ISP, drop me a line offlist and we'll
set something up :)

BTW, this is mentioned in the initial email that is sent when a person
is approved for a m.e.o account - a copy of which you can find at
http://members.evolt.org/help/
