Subject: [thelist] Use of <abbr title> tag
I've noticed several sites that use the <abbr title=""> tag in their
coding but am having problems viewing the result in NS6.2 on Mac. When I
roll over the text, I get the pointer with the ? but nothing else. In IE
5.x, the text has no underline, but does give a description when rolled
over (you just can't figure out which text to roll over as you get no
pointer at all).
I am making an effort to learn as much as I can regarding usability
issues and coding my sites for usability and accessibility, but I have
not had the occasion to use this tag before so I may be just naive about
it. Am I missing something or is it a PC/MAC thing?
Example is at (nice layout Alastair):
http://www.19nine78.net/cubenew/portfolio/portfolio_detail.asp
...bullet listing #3 under heading Key Problem Areas. The abbr. text is
"WAI".
