[thelist] form element naming restrictions

OK, no answers yet; let me rephrase:

Has anyone had any trouble using the a pipe character, asterisk or
similar in the name of a form element? Like:

<input type="text" name="name|first*billing" />

How about:

<input type="text" name="name.first.billing" />

What would you say to:

<input type="text" name="666#$*%!?" />

>Are there restrictions put on the name attribute form elements?
