Theoretically probably not. However, I've just done a test to one
of my domains using
søren at mydomain
Now my mail client (Apple Mail) munged it to søren@
and when it arrived back it was further munged to søren@
having gone through sendmail, Exim, Postfix and fetchmail along
the way.
So my guess is that as long as the domain name doesn't have
special chars in, it'll get delivered to the domain. As long as there's
something there to handle it (ie recognise the special char and
likely munges of it) when it gets there, you might be OK.
