[thelist] Form elements' state getting screwed up in Netscape 6.1 and 6.2.1

OK, here's the deal:

I've got a DIV with an ID. Inside the DIV is a FORM (with some tables in
it). When the page is generated (server-side), some things like some
checkboxes' checked properties are set (via HTML attributes). Also, the
selectedIndex of a SELECT element is also set (although that's done in
client-side JavaScript once the page has loaded. All is okey-dokey in IE 6.

The problem I'm having is that if the DIV is hidden ...

... either by style:

... or by script:

    document.getElementById("divName").style.visibility = "hidden";
    document.getElementById("divName").style.display = "none";

... then, the checkboxes lose their checked status and all end up being
"unchecked" when the DIV is redisplayed. Also, the SELECT's selectedIndex
is lost unless I set it while the DIV is visible.

Anyone ever experienced similar problems? Anyone have a workaround for
Netscape 6.x?
