[thelist] DEBATE: Fixed Width Vs Liquid

IMHO, fixed width vs liquid isn't an all one or the other. Some
layouts only work with fixed widths. Some clients only like
fixed-width layouts. A good web designer should know them both.
I prefer liquid design because of it's "forward compatibility". A
liquid site will look pretty good in any browser size, on a PDA or
cell phone, or on Web TV. What happens to all those sites that are a
static 740px when the 8X6 standard changes, or their site needs to be
accessible by a different crowd using PDAs? But hey, if your audience
uses only one type of browser and only one size of window it's faster
and easier to make a fixed-with layout. And your graphics people
won't have to learn anything new.
