i used to say that, until i sent a job to a printer about 7 years ago
that had no problems... thought i'd give it a shot, and it came out
fine... since then, i've done it that way with no issues...

of course, that doesn't mean it isn't possible -- just like using a
compressed TIFF used to eat some of the RIPs locally...

but if you're just printing to a regular printer, most likely it won't be
an issue either way...

scaling without antialiasing never worked to well for me outside of
even multiples of the image... but then, neither did bicubic, so what
the hell do i know...
