[thelist] pattern match three or more of the same character repeated in a row

Hi -

I am new to regular expressions so this may be a very simple question but I am stumped so any help would be appreciated....

I need to match if a given string contains three or more of the same character repeated in a row.  I have read the intro article to regular expressions at evolt but I can't piece together the right metacharacters to get this to work.
