I dont think its wise to put your eggs in one basket these days..

Why not learn them both, and ASP too... they are all sufficiently similar to
crossover a lot with many common features and you will learn many
reusable skills.

Start with PHP, then translate your code to ASP... very simple process, then
try it in CF (bit harder!) and so on... you can soon become competent in them
all, and that is the kind of versatility that is gonna make you a valuable team
member
