I think what he meant was he was thinking of using client-side javascript.

It also sounds like he doesn't know how to go about doing this
on the server in any language.

I don't think ASP provides any method of determining this.  It
might be easier if you wrote your own session handling system, then
you could know how much longer the session had, when it started, etc.
