The Canon Elph takes a proprietary battery. I bought a spare and make
sure they are both charged up when I head out the door. Along with a
large flash card, I have taken over 300 (1024x768) shots in an afternoon
without a recharge.

Since last August, I've taken nearly 4000 shots. I don't know what that
would have cost in "disposable" batteries!
