Hi, Jeff & All --

--------------- <SNIP>

http://members.evolt.org/jeff/code/modified_pre_blocks.cfm

ie5+/win users with js enabled should see line numbers and long lines should
wrap. all other competent css capable browsers should show the <pre></pre>
blocks in a scrollable area. all other browsers should display normal,
undecorated <pre></pre> blocks.
</SNIP> ----------------------------------------

K-Meleon (Win NT 4.0) displays blocks in scrollable area, black text with dark gray
background with dots around it. When the text is too long for the viewport, the
scroll bar is horizontal; otherwise, no scroll bar. No line numbers. That what you
want/expect? It's a little dark -- I would recommend the famous minty-green
background (#CFF) for the background of PRE areas. Screenshot if you want it.

In Opera 6.3, since default font size is smaller, I see no wrapping (no scrollbars), but
other than that, it looks the same as for K-Meleon -- in 800x600. To test scrollbar in
Opera, I took the resolution setting down (live, with my Viewsonic LCD VA550) to
640x480. Now you have a problem: the text simply continues past the dotted line into the
white boundary.
I reloaded, but that didn't reflow the text. Want me to boot up in this reduced mode and see
if Opera does the same thing at this lower desktop size when I click on your link? (Anything
for leading evoltistas!)

Cheers --
Carol (techwatcher)
