Building one right now for Thales Broadcast & Multimedia in Southwick, Mass.
Besides the normal things to incorporate (webmail in some cases, for users
who are connecting remotely -- we have a lot of them) maybe weather, news,
calendar features, etc... I also built a few specialty apps, one of which is
an electronic purchase order requisisition system where employees can fill
out purchase orders paperlessly and have them automatically emailed to their
boss for approval and then they are notified once approval is granted, etc.
Another thing I have built is a cutom timesheet solution that is quite
customizable and allows tracking of hours by employee, project, department,
etc... Also I built a searchable document management system that is very
easy to use and really helps increase communication between departments and
makes finding information much easier. There is also an open forum and a few
closed forums for departments. Anyway, best of luck!

Jeff
