hi,

i've been looking around for a while lately but i have not been able to
get some questions answered yet. it seems that everything i read on the
web about any certain technology assumes too much. for example... (i'm
just making this up)

Web Article on writing your first .NET web page
---------------------------------------------------
Want to learn to write .NET applications? This simple tutorial will help
you out.

1. Install and configure .NET
2. Copy and paste the code below.
3. you're done!!
---------------------------------------------------

so here i am emailing you fine people here on theList.

questions:

1. are any third-party programs needed to develop .NET applications?

2. right now i use VBScript to write ASP pages when making a web
application (if you can call them applications). how does the
terminology go with .NET? do you write .NET pages? can you still you
VBScript? do you HAVE to use VBScript?

3. i've heard that C# is more like C++. is this correct(or am i making
this up)? if so, is a third party program required to compile the code?

4. is downloading the .NET framework the only thing required to start
using .NET for the web?

basically i'm confused by the whole thing as i think you can tell. i'd
really like to start using it but i'm not sure how.

any help (ultra-basic tutorials, instructions on getting it set up,
etc.) would be appreciated.

thanks a lot!
chris.
