Take a look at HTML tidy.  It is built into a ton of stuff (Dreamweaver
MX I think is one of the apps) and it will take crappy code and clean it
into xhtml.

Extremely useful stuff... you can find more info at the www.w3c.org
site.

I'm not familiar with Dreamweaver, never used it. Is the xhtml compliant
code clean and "standards compliant"? From what I understand, and I may
be
misunderstanding, is that the code is not too clean. People use it and
then
go in and clean the code up by hand.
