[thelist] Linux Help Please

I have just XF86Setup on my Debian Box and for the first time I have a GUI along
the bottom of the screen I have

10 boxes that contain the following

load
xterm
Files
xcalc
xview
gview
netscape
kill
desktop

underneath this lot there is a type of MS start icon with a yellow star.

The load box is making some type of movement but I think something has frozen as
the mouse wont move and the black cross in the middle does nothing.  The
keyboard has not reponded to anything either.

Should I reboot?
