I created a new folder C:/apache and the PID file is created now when apache is
started so no problems there, the other problem has not been sorted out
regarding not finding the fully qulified domain name?

this is obviously a config file problem?

Not sure those two are related, but --

OK, is the name and IP address you've given the server valid? As in
exists in DNS or at least your hosts file (and the IP address matches
that of your computer)?

The PID file usually goes in the ./logs subdirectory of the apache
installation; does C:/apache exist, as a directory writable by the
apache process?
