sort of - euro and US dollar have been around 1 = 1 for a few months
now

Are you planning to move a domain to a new registrar? Consider that
the whole procedure could take two weeks or more to complete, even if
everything flows smoothly.

Better to start around one month *before* the domain expires or you
will risk to get stuck in a dangerous limbo.

Also consider that the new registrar will send one or more
authorization request(s) to the ADMIN contact listed for the domain:
is the original mailbox still active (and checked regularly by
somebody that would know what to do)?
