Mozilla appends it to the site name.
It is an appropriate method to use when you have a central clearing page,
that handles all incoming request.
If used in this way ( eg: always hits www.funky.com ) then IE behaves in
the same way. Just let your default page process it.
I havent tested Opera's behaviour.
