Yep, you can pass it via the the url (it'll appear on the _root
"namespace"/timeline in the SWF.) Won't work for IE 5.1 on the Mac. In MX
you can also use Flashvars (see

Is it possible to pass flash argument via a url, so that an argument will be
passed in the form of myfile.swf?action=play_music without Flash Generator?
