After meddling with the code for a good while, I realized it was the JS
and not the CSS, that was doing the resizing... and just then my
excitement died out.

I'll consider it as one option, but I am still left wondering... is it
not at all possible achieve the effect with stylesheets and aren't there
any workarounds for max-width for IE?
