[thelist] Javascript back button in a popup

Thanks Phil and jeff,
Both of the codes you have given work to go back in history but the
pop-up closes and then reopens again - is there something that will keep
it closed?
And tried it without any history in the browser and it closed both the
pop-up and the site - leaving the interretire url in the address bar.
Thought that was an okay result but if anyone has any better suggestions
I will be happy to think about that.

Derry,
Ignore my last message. The following function, unlike the first one I
sent you, will actually work:
function decline() {
opener.window.history.go(-1);
self.close();
}
Sorry about that.
