I use Linksys equipment; it's been nearly flawless. 802.11b (WiFi) access
point serves as firewall, DHCP server, 4-port switch.

PC and laptop cards are about $100 each, as I recall, and the access point
is about $200.

Shirley Kaiser did a nice write-up after she enabled wireless on her home
network. She has essentially the same setup I do; she includes lots of links
and helpful info.
