You don't have this as a requirement, but I've found variable-width
fonts less readable for actual code work -- YMMV.
In any case, I currently use 'Lucida Console' (in jEdit); you might
also like the slightly more compact version, 'Lucida Sans Unicode'.
(These are on Win2K).
