Make sure that you are working with all key personnel in the company.  Don't
forget about Sam in marketing.

On big projects have a project contact on the other end whose job is to
build consensus about decisions that the company needs to make.

Split your contract into milestones and have them signed off as you go
along.  Let the client know (in your contract) that there are costs involved
in changing things once the milestone has been reached.  With that in mind,
don't nickel and dime the client.

Set dates on the contract regarded expected turn around time for both you
and the client.  Make sure that they know that the reason your project is
late is because Sam in marketing isn't sending you any content.

Be flexible and good natured.
