[thelist] site search: free and/or ultra low cost

hi.

we've got an intranet that could use a search utility. i just spoke with
a guy at atomz search and found out that atomz is WAY too expensive and
that probably any other robust* search solution will be as well. any
other recommendations out there?

* by robust i mean able to index multiple formats especially MS Office
formats and PDF files.
