[thelist] contract expiration, project incomplete

Have you delivered completed work to him Moni? If you've already employed
many of the tricks that people have posted here in earlier discussions on
this sort of subject and he ignores the mails where you try and pin him down
to terms and conditions, then it's probably time to down tools and tell him
that unless he gives you certain assurances (and at least some of the money
you are owed) that you will not continue working on this project.

Has the programmer on this project had similar experiences within the
project? Can you and he work out a strategy together?

Deaths in the family are of course regrettable and a shame, but that
shouldn't be an excuse for behaving unprofessionally and shouldn't affect
his communications with you.

You should be prepared at this point that you may have to take a stand. It
is of course always best to take the path of reasonable negotiation, but
there comes a point at which you have to stand your ground and attempt to
cut your losses. The risk is that he may point blank refuse to pay, in which
case you may have to weigh up the the possibility of small claims court (or
similar wherever you are) or simply chalking it up to experience if the sums
are not worth fighting over.

Some earlier posts about similar situations can be found at these addresses:

Good luck!
