as the guilty party who raised the point both on your site, mark,
and here in this discussion list, let me just say that you guys
have done a great job in the redesign of the sites

nice job applying the new design to your version of vbulletin, too

and sure, you don't want to rewrite its engine, i don't blame you

but i have composed several hundred posts on sitepointforums,
and never resorted to font tags

yours must have come in by pasting from some html editor

i do understand how it happened (and richard perhaps did not,
erroneously assuming that the font tags were all over the site,
and not just in your announcement message)

i just thought that pasting in font tags from some html editor
when the subject was w3c standards was a bit ironic

the criticism is unwarranted if applied to the entire site,
and i apologize

i shall enjoy the new design and intend to continue visiting
the forums and contributing frequently
