Depending on how you have the domain set up with mydomain.com it may very
well be pointing to their servers. In order for them to do redirection or
stealth redirection, it does point to their servers. If you are doing IP
fowarding, the IP should point to your server. The nameserver records for
the domain, of course, will be pointing to mydomain nameservers.
After very mixed results using mydomain for a few years, I eventually
decided to run my own nameservers. I guess for a free service, though,
the performance is acceptable if you don't have a better method available.
I always found them to be a bit slow and/or unreliable for my taste.
