Not to pick on Gary, but this is the second opinion that this is
a non-issue, and I'd strongly disagree.

As a consumer, I expect to pay the advertised price for an item; if
I'm charged a higher price at the register, I'd consider the store
careless at best, scammers at worst, and I'd probably not shop there
again. Around here, at least, the district attorney investigates
complaints of grocery store scanners ringing up prices higher than
the marked shelf price, an analogous situation IMO.

If I put an item marked $6.95 in my shopping cart, go to checkout
and it's suddenly $9.95, I'd think I was being scammed, and there's
no way I'm giving an untrustworthy entity my credit card info. End
of transaction.
