Agreed, and there's a saying in consulting: Once you lower your
price, its almost impossible to raise it. Once you work for a guy at
$5/hr, he will never want to contract you out at more, and he will
probably try to get you at less. 

You need to sell the value in your work, so make sure you SEE the
value in your work. Don't sell yourself as a two-bit street corner
huckster, because you'll get treated that way :)
