yes, i've dealt with it, sorta

my daughter is 12 and my son is 10, and they started surfing on their own a
couple of years ago

here's what i did -- i warned them that there are bad sites out there, that
contain all kinds of bad stuff including hatred, misinformation, stupidity,
and porn

i've seen each of them hit alt-f4 real quick when something started to
download that they considered questionable

i've also blocked all popups (google toolbar) and i've got the computer
immunized against spyware (spybot search and destroy)

still, each of them has a couple or three hotmail ids, so they get all kinds
of hotmail spam, most of it, as we know, of the html variety -- nothing i
can do about that, at all -- so i figure they've already been bombarded with
messages to INCREASE THE SIZE OF YOUR P3N1S for years

basically, the parental filter that i've installed is their good sense

besides, any kid who wants to find pron is gonna find it

heck, even google archives porn pics -- http://www.google.com/imghp -- and i
have always encouraged them to use google for everything they want to find
