What business is this client in? Maybe some people on thelist have had
experience in the same industry.

Maybe you could do some social engineering and call other like-minded
businesses and ask them what they think their audience is.

"hello like-minded-business."
"hi, i'm a college student writing a research paper on what businesses
perceive their audience to be and i'd like to ask you a question if you
don't mind."

The premis being that you believe most businesses DON'T know their
target audience.

Annnyyywaaayyyss... that's just one scenario.

In fact I did a similar thing for our business. I called a
like-minded-business in our industry and asked them if anyone actually
used their mail order form in their catalog. We were trying to decide if
we should have one too. The lady said "yes people use it" but we decided
not to anyway. ;)
