firebird is a browser only, created (forked from Moz) with the intention 
of being smaller in filesize and hence faster to load
Moz comes bundlked with a (pretty good) email client, html editor, and 
irc client.

they both use the same rendering / parsing engine (Gecko) - one is a 
smaller stand-alone browser, one a full featured email / editing / 
browsing err.....thing :)
