There is a good Webcast today on HTTP compression at microsoft.com -- it
is a different Web cast than yesterday's IIS 6 compression walk-through.

The event is not completely IIS 6 focused, but approaches HTTP
compression in general and covers solutions for compression on IIS 4-6
and other platforms. Relatively light on tech, this is a good Webcast
to get a feeling for the technology, who's using it, and how HTTP
Compression can save money and speed up sites.

Best,
Chris @ Port80

Microsoft Executive Circle Webcast: Save Thousands of Dollars Using Web
Site Compression

Live Event:

September 3, 2003 - 11:30am to 1:00pm Pacific Time / 2:30pm Eastern
Time.

Event Description:

A new study conducted by Port80 software illustrates the opportunity for
companies to leverage standards-based HTTP compression technologies for
their Web sites and applications to reduce bandwidth bills, speed up
file delivery, and serve more users with current hardware. Your
organization's website likely contains static information that could be
compressed resulting in real bottom-line savings in bandwidth
expenditures every month. If you are not using HTTP compression on your
Web site today, how much are you overpaying on bandwidth? Do you know
how much faster could you serve Web sites, extranets or intranets to
your users? How many more users could you support with existing servers?
Port80 Software, a developer of tools to enhance Microsoft Internet
Information Services (IIS) Web servers, recently surveyed every Fortune
1000 Web site and discovered most companies are not using HTTP
compression -- a safe, inexpensive, and widely supported technology.
This Technical Perspectives webcast will review HTTP compression among
the Fortune 1000, explore cost and performance savings with compression
including real-time analysis of sites, and review compression solutions
on Windows and Internet Information Services (IIS) including highlights
regarding built-in compression with Windows Server 2003 and IIS 6.0.
Solutions for IIS 4.0 and 5.0 will also be presented.
