Thanks 'volters for your replies and suggestions.

I have solved my problem.

I've made my anchor tags 'block' elements (display: block;) and floated them
left (float: left;) while using margins to space the elements. I also
converted my SPAN tag to a DIV.

This solved IE & Opera issues, to help out Mozilla I added height and width
attributes to the anchors.

You can now see the changes at the site now [1].

I don't know how the site holds-up in older browsers but I'll jump that
hurdle when I get to it.
