I've used, and enjoyed working with, ActivePDF, http://activepdf.com.
Found it full-featured and easy to code to. OTOH, it's almost never
offered as a part of shared hosting plans, so it depends on your hosting
needs.

I've found that every PDF-generation component offers a different API,
and that each has strengths and weaknesses. You might want to download a
few demo versions and get your hands dirty writing scripts that carry
out tasks your code will often do, see how easy and straightforward it
is.
