uh oh, holy war material.  *grin*

i personally prefer %.  pay special attention that you don't use non-100%
sizing on elements that can be nested though.  to that end, i usually set
the body to 75% or 80% (depending on the font-family) and then everything
else to 100%.  heading tags get a size in excess of 100%, usually something
like the following:

h1 = 180%
h2 = 150%
h3 = 130%
h4 = 115%
h5 = 100%
h6 = 90%

if you're going to use a fixed size, go with px.  pt are for printing and
will have drastic differences between operating systems.
