A while back I pointed a lister at J Album:

The results of simply pointing the package at a directory structure containing
130+ photos from 600x800 to 2000x3000 is pretty impressive!

The formatting seems to be pretty much adjustable by hacking the scripts as 
required
and modifying the formatting data files, the resulting HTML can be edited 
to use the
little imagges it generates for the link images (nice watermarking too)

Still got a long way to go with the site but the album looks pretty cool 
considering the
hotch-potch of images thrown in to it!
