John my friend I have just had the unpleasant experience of not being paid for a
project too.  this happens but hey just a case of dealing with it.  The o
contract bit is bah humbug a verbal contract is as good as any bit of paper and
will stand up in court.

Do not provide any passwords and do not correspond with the said party until
they have paid.  They will pay if you do this trust me.

This may help too, map their site to another site that has just one index page
saying 'access denied services suspended' they will pay.  It worked for me ;)
