Yes, which is another reason to be wary of image-replacement techniques.
Other css tricks are:
postion:absolute;
left:-1000px;
No way of knowing how it will be treated by search engines apart from the
fact that it will be abused by spammers and then will be penalised by seacrh
engines eventually.
