Hi Warren,

The MS Gothic family is the standard font on Windows machines for
Japanese.

Something sounds strange with the readability of the Japanese fonts on
your site. Readability of the Japanese should not be poor if you have
the font size set to 11px, and the browser should just ignore your
font-family specification of Verdana and default to whatever is
installed on your machine. Can you post a URL? Also, have you tried
testing it on a native Japanese OS/browser combination?

Check out http://www.lionbridge.com and choose the Japanese language
(the top language in the right-side column under "Change Language") to
see how that looks. No Japanese font is specified in the style sheet.
