I can only address the last thing as I've written my own PHP/MYSQL
shopping cart, but on a quick examination of the site (very nice), I
wouldn't think about trying to shoe horn your site into a new system,
just create the new shopping thing - whatever is recommended here - and
just link or have a button from your pages to add an item to the cart.
You'd keep your design and have new functionally.
Ideally you'd have something that wouldn't pull the user over to 'the
other side', in that if you are taken to the cart one could very easily
return to your pages rather than be stuck in the database generated pages.
