Your log file should have both of those lines in it when there is a gif on the page. Two files are being accessed, so there are two entries in the log. Are you saying you only have one entry, like the log only records the most recent file, and discards any info on any previous files? That's the wrong behavior. What server are you using, and what are you using to read the logs?
