well, i think i'm going to be very biased... i think it's a very good 
book in general, but for what it sounds like you need, it's probably 
a great pick... the chapters isaac wrote are top-notch and you should 
learn a lot from them...

Chapter 2: Color, Chapter 4: Visual Elements, and Chapter 5: Layout 
are all his chapters, and they alone can act as an effective crash 
course in putting together something nice... the other chapters are 
more nitty-gritty (image formats, image tools, etc.) for when you've 
built your design... and my chapter on typography isn't half bad...

i stand by that book -- i'm very pleased with how it turned out, and 
the introduction was written while i was on my fifth espresso of the 
morning, so it's just a little 'out there...' and the chapter 
dividers are cool, too...

seriously, if you get and don't like it, email me and we'll talk 
about taking it off your hands to add to my collection...
