Lol, good point, ok, well you could just add the checksum to the database
and leave it off the file.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you by adding the checksum value into the
file change the checksum of the file?

Thus invalidating the checksum ...

The other concern about putting the checksum into a file available on the
space is that if the hacker knows the expected checksum he can change the
file such that the checksum matches.
