The point was that using an IDE to set "breakpoints" is something
I couldn't help with, because I don't use Sun One Studio or any
other IDE.

OTOH, I'm not alone (cited: Kernighan and Pike) in thinking that
an effectively used logging tool like log4j is a better approach
to debugging. And I think this is *especially* true for a Web app
environment, where a process-triggering event is an HTTP request.

It also facilitates debugging "in the wild" -- after an application
has been deployed, and develops a problem that can't be duplicated
in the lab.
